Brennan Poole endured a frustrating afternoon in Saturday's The Progress Group 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 26th after starting 34th. The Alpha Prime Racing driver gained eight positions but could not overcome several challenges during the 94-lap event.
Poole began the afternoon near the rear of the field, facing the challenge of advancing through a competitive lineup. His No. 44 Chevrolet remained in competition during the opening stages as JR Motorsports controlled much of the racing near the front. Poole's afternoon became more complicated following Stage 2 when his team received a pit-road penalty.
The setback cost valuable track position and forced him to spend the remaining portion of the race attempting to recover. The final
stage featured a multicar accident on Lap 57, followed by another caution for debris later in the event. Poole avoided race-ending damage and continued battling through the field.
He ultimately finished 26th, completing all 94 laps and earning 12 points. The result helped Poole maintain 18th in the overall NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series standings with 576 points. He holds a 26-point advantage over Jeremy Clements, who sits 19th.
Poole will attempt to rebound from the disappointing finish and strengthen his championship position at Martinsville and Homestead-Miami.
