Josh Williams experienced a challenging afternoon in Saturday's The Progress Group 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 23rd after starting 22nd. The driver of the No. 92 Chevrolet completed all 94 laps but could not capitalize on the changing drafting conditions to secure a stronger result.
Williams began the event near the middle of the field, working to maintain competitive track position as JR Motorsports controlled the leading drafting lanes. The opening stages featured several changes in the running order as drivers attempted to organize different drafting formations. Williams remained in competition while championship contenders battled for valuable stage points.
The race's first major incident occurred on Lap 57 when Harrison Burton
and Taylor Gray made contact, triggering an accident that collected multiple drivers. Williams avoided being eliminated and continued racing as the field worked through the final stage. However, he was unable to establish himself among the leading contenders during the closing laps.
He ultimately finished 23rd, one position behind Lee Pulliam and one ahead of Harrison Burton. The result earned Williams 14 points and helped him maintain 31st in the overall NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series standings with 217 points.
Williams will look for stronger results during the remaining races at Martinsville and Homestead-Miami.
