Kris Wright’s Kansas race ended almost immediately when a mechanical failure forced the No. 81 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet out of the event. Wright started 28th and completed only nine laps before trouble developed.
An oil-pump-related issue caused Wright to lose oil pressure and retire from the Race to Stop Suicide 200. With the truck unable to continue, Wright never had an opportunity to benefit from the crashes, penalties and tire failures that affected numerous drivers later in the afternoon. NASCAR credited him with 36th and last place and one championship point.
Wright remains outside the Truck Series Chase and leaves Kansas 24th in the season standings with 220 points. He trails Connor Mosack by 13 points and sits 34 ahead of Frankie
Muniz. The early mechanical failure prevented Wright from making any progress in a race where simply reaching the finish could have produced a considerably better result.
