Bristol Motor Speedway will no longer be a part of the Chase in 2027. On Thursday, Bristol revealed its dates for the 2027 NASCAR season, including its final weekend. Instead of running its final race weekend in September, the track will move to its previous slot in mid-August in 2027.
NASCAR will go to Bristol for a tripleheader weekend from April 9 to 11, before returning to the venue from August 12 to 14. Bristol wanted an August date back with no more elimination drama in the Chase moving forward. This will help the track as college football rivals NASCAR during the Chase.
Overall, this is a positive change for Bristol and NASCAR. This will allow both sides to find the best date moving forward. While Bristol will be missed in the Chase, it makes
more sense to return to its previous August slate. For now, Bristol will focus on its Chase date during the 2026 NASCAR season.
