Brad Keselowski attempted to purchase RFK Racing outright before his upcoming departure from the organization, but the proposal was rejected by the team's other owners. The 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion confirmed the unsuccessful bid to Sports Business Journal's Adam Stern on October 23, adding another development to his uncertain NASCAR future.
Keselowski revealed that he submitted an unsolicited offer to purchase the entire organization, but the proposal was declined within the previous week. "I think it was a pretty solid and significant offer," Keselowski said. However, the 42-year-old declined to disclose the financial terms or whether outside investors were involved. RFK Racing also declined to comment on the rejected proposal.
The development
comes after Keselowski and RFK Racing announced on September 29 that they would part ways following the 2026 season. Keselowski joined the organization as a driver and minority owner in 2022, taking over the No. 6 Ford while helping improve the team's competitive performance. However, disagreements emerged regarding his future responsibilities, with RFK Racing hoping Keselowski would transition into a competition leadership role while he wanted to continue driving.
Jack Roush's Roush Enterprises and Fenway Sports Group remain the organization's other ownership groups. Despite the rejected offer, Keselowski still maintains an ownership interest in RFK Racing, with both sides previously confirming they would work together to determine the next steps regarding his stake. The organization intends to continue operating three full-time NASCAR Cup Series entries in 2027, although it currently controls only two charters.
Keselowski has not announced his plans for the 2027 season but has repeatedly expressed interest in continuing his driving career and remaining involved in team ownership. The 36-time Cup Series winner is scheduled to address questions surrounding his future during a press conference at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, October 31. His next destination remains uncertain as he prepares to conclude his five-year tenure with RFK Racing.
