Justin Allgaier continued his pursuit of another NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship Saturday, finishing fourth in The Progress Group 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The JR Motorsports driver started 14th, led 11 laps and secured the second stage victory during a strong afternoon.
Allgaier worked closely with teammates Carson Kvapil and Sammy Smith throughout the event, helping JR Motorsports dominate much of the race. His No. 7 Chevrolet was particularly strong during Stage 2, when he battled toward the front and captured his 12th stage victory of the season.
The performance earned valuable championship points while Jesse Love struggled to remain in the top 10. Allgaier remained near the leaders throughout the final stage and played
an important role in the race's deciding moment. On the final lap, he provided a strong push to Smith down the backstretch, helping his teammate pass Kvapil for the victory.
Allgaier ultimately crossed the finish line fourth, earning 51 points from the event. The result strengthened his championship position, keeping him second with 2,382 points. More importantly, Allgaier reduced his deficit to Love from 36 to just 19 points.
He will attempt to take control of the championship during the remaining races at Martinsville and Homestead-Miami.
