NASCAR is bringing the season finale back to Florida. Earlier in the week, NASCAR announced that Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the season finale during the 2027 season. Homestead, which is returning for the season finale in 2026, will have at least two years as NASCAR's last event.
In 2019, Homestead hosted its final Championship Weekend before Phoenix Raceway took the honors from the 2020 to 2025 seasons. Before the Chase was even announced, Homestead was set to return for the final race. Now, the venue will have the first two opportunities as the championship destination in the Chase format.
In the playoff format, the final race of the season was by far the most important. While Homestead will still be very important in determining who
wins the championship, it is now a natural end to the season. Plus, Homestead belongs as the final race weekend, and NASCAR is giving the track two years before a likely rotation.
