Stewart Friesen experienced a disastrous afternoon in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 30th after being involved in the first major accident. The Halmar Friesen Racing driver started 15th but completed just 16 laps before his race ended.
Friesen entered the event hoping to secure a strong result during the closing portion of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. However, his afternoon ended abruptly during the opening stage when his No. 52 Toyota became unstable in Turns 1 and 2.
Contact involving Andres Perez de Lara triggered a multicar accident that collected eight trucks, including Tony Stewart, Daniel Hemric and Cleetus McFarland. The incident caused extensive damage throughout the field and forced
NASCAR to temporarily stop the race for cleanup.
Friesen was unable to continue, leaving him 30th after completing just 16 laps. The early retirement earned him seven points and prevented him from improving his overall championship position. Friesen remains 12th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings with 492 points, sitting 12 ahead of Tanner Gray.
Having missed the championship Chase, Friesen will attempt to rebound from the difficult afternoon and finish his season strongly at Martinsville and Homestead-Miami.
