Kyle Sieg experienced a challenging afternoon in Saturday's The Progress Group 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 28th after starting 29th. The RSS Racing driver completed all 94 laps but struggled to gain significant track position during the event.
Sieg began the afternoon near the rear of the field, facing the challenge of navigating several competitive drafting lanes. His No. 28 Chevrolet remained in competition throughout the opening stages as JR Motorsports controlled the majority of laps near the front. The race featured several opportunities for drivers to gain positions through changing strategies, although Sieg was unable to consistently advance.
His afternoon remained relatively uneventful compared to several championship contenders
who encountered problems during the final stage. The first major accident occurred on Lap 57 when contact involving Harrison Burton and Taylor Gray triggered a multicar incident.
Sieg avoided elimination and continued battling through the field as the event approached its conclusion. He ultimately finished 28th, completing all 94 laps and earning nine points. The result helped Sieg maintain 24th in the overall NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series standings with 394 points. He sits 12 points behind Patrick Staropoli and 28 ahead of Josh Bilicki.
Sieg will attempt to improve his final position during the remaining races at Martinsville and Homestead-Miami.
