Kyle Larson delivered a commanding performance Sunday at Kansas Speedway, winning the Hollywood Casino 400 after leading 235 of 267 laps. Larson started second, swept both stages and recorded the fastest lap to collect the maximum 76 points available.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver had to earn the victory late. Chase Briscoe ran Larson down and took the lead on Lap 238, but Larson regrouped as Briscoe’s Toyota became increasingly loose. Larson reclaimed the top spot with seven laps remaining and held off a charging Austin Cindric by 0.565 seconds.
Larson’s second victory in the opening four Chase races significantly strengthened his championship position. He leaves Kansas atop the standings with 2,282 points and a 26-point advantage over Denny
Hamlin with six races remaining. Kansas turned what had been a tight title battle into a sizable early cushion for the defending champion.
