Christian Eckes recorded a 10th-place finish in Friday's Black's Tire 200 at Martinsville Speedway, but the result officially ended his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship hopes. The McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver started seventh and remained competitive throughout much of the 200-lap event.
Eckes demonstrated speed during the opening stage, battling championship leader Kaden Honeycutt for position. Contact between the drivers contributed to an accident involving Frankie Muniz on Lap 36.
Despite the incident, Eckes remained among the leading competitors and finished sixth in Stage 1, collecting five points. He followed that performance with a seventh-place finish in Stage 2, adding another four points to his afternoon.
The final stage
featured numerous caution periods and several aggressive restarts, preventing Eckes from consistently moving toward the front. He ultimately crossed the finish line 10th, completing all 200 laps and earning 36 points.
The result moved Eckes into fifth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Chase standings with 2,263 points. However, he trails championship leader Kaden Honeycutt by 140 markers, mathematically eliminating him from title contention. Eckes will attempt to finish his season strongly at Homestead-Miami Speedway before concluding his 2026 campaign.
