Tyler Ankrum’s Kansas race unraveled in the closing laps when a flat tire dropped him to 25th. Ankrum started 14th and spent much of the afternoon running significantly better than his final result indicates.
The McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver scored three stage points by finishing eighth in Stage 2 and remained around the top 15 during the final segment. With five laps remaining, Ankrum slowed with a flat tire and was forced onto pit road under green. He also earned the race’s fastest-lap bonus, helping him salvage 16 points.
Ankrum remains 10th and last among the Chase contenders with 2,070 points. He trails Kaden Honeycutt by 127 points and sits nine points behind Grant Enfinger. The late tire issue prevented Ankrum from reducing an already
significant championship deficit with five races remaining.
