Brandon Jones enters Las Vegas 11th in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase with 2,121 points, leaving the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran 114 points behind Sheldon Creed. Despite the sizable gap to the championship lead, Jones is only three points behind Parker Retzlaff and eight behind Austin Hill.
Jones finished 15th at Bristol while several drivers immediately ahead of him recorded top-10 results. The performance kept the No. 20 Toyota from suffering a catastrophic points loss, but it did little to reduce the deficit to Creed, who collected 60 points with the victory.
Las Vegas could provide a chance to change that trajectory. Jones finished 13th at the speedway in March, scored 25 points and led four laps during the second half of the event. Another
mid-teens result would likely leave him with even more ground to recover, making stage production particularly important Saturday. Jones remains within eight points of ninth despite sitting 114 off the championship lead.
