Chase Briscoe had an opportunity to win the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but he never got another restart. On Sunday afternoon, Briscoe finished in fourth place at the 2026 Brickyard 400. It was a disappointing but good result for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who wanted to win in his home race.
Following the event, Briscoe spoke about coming up short in the Brickyard 400. He was clearly disappointed about not kissing the bricks.
"The final restart, I could taste it just for the slightest second," Briscoe said. "A lot of things went our way at the end with the strategy and the cautions. I just didn’t quite have the balance we needed. I lost a couple of spots on our initial start. Just unfortunate to be that close. Just needed a little
bit more.”
Briscoe still displayed plenty of speed and climbed from the back of hte pack throughout the event. The driver of the No. 19 car was able to outrun Denny Hamlin in the closing laps as well. While Briscoe didn't enter victory lane, it was still a strong effort by the No. 19 team for Joe Gibbs Racing.
