William Byron turned in a steady top-10 afternoon at Kansas Speedway, finishing seventh after starting eighth. Byron remained a fixture near the front while Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson controlled most of the race.
Byron scored points in both stages, finishing seventh in Stage 1 and sixth in Stage 2. The No. 24 Chevrolet remained on the lead lap throughout the afternoon and ultimately crossed the finish line 3.710 seconds behind Larson.
The performance earned Byron 39 points, but Larson’s maximum-points win made the championship gap significantly larger. Byron leaves Kansas 12th in the Chase standings with 2,124 points, 158 behind Larson. The seventh-place result was strong in isolation, but the championship math became more difficult
because the driver Byron is chasing scored 37 more points in the same race.
