Since becoming head coach of the UNC men's basketball program, Michael Malone is proving himself as an expert recruiter, particularly in the class of 2027
The Tar Heels currently have 11 outstanding offers, with eight 5-star recruits on Malone's list. Several of those targets already visited Chapel Hill, like 5-star point guard Nasir Anderson.
North Carolina recently received great news regarding Anderson, who canceled his Monday visit to Kentucky. This doesn't necessarily signify a commitment in the near future, but more likely that Anderson is narrowing his final options, with UNC near the top of that list.
According to his Rivals recruiting profile, Anderson is the class of 2027's 10th-ranked player overall, fourth-ranked point guard and fifth-ranked
player from Georgia. Originally hailing from Savannah, Anderson plays his high school ball at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Anderson is one of two point guard targets for the Tar Heels in their next recruiting class, along with top-ranked overall player Beckham Black, who also made a previous visit to Chapel Hill. Landing both 5-stars is ideal, but Anderson is at least trending very rapidly towards North Carolina.
5⭐️ Nasir Anderson is no longer taking an official visit to Kentucky today, according to @JackPilgrimKSR.

The Tar Heels recently lost out on top overall 2027 recruit Jordan Page, who committed to Dan Hurley's UConn Huskies on Sunday. This shouldn't concern UNC fans, who still have an 11-man board.
North Carolina sports a 3-man recruiting class for its 2026-27 roster, which includes combo guard Malloy Smith, wings Maximo Adams and Kevin Thomas. Adams and Thomas will likely see extensive playing time, while Smith could carve himself out a valuable bench role.
With Anderson's recently cancellation to a Tar Heel rival, will he announce his commitment in the coming days? Trends say UNC is the next stop, but Anderson is the one to make that call.
