The North Carolina Tar Heels have had an eventful week to open up the 2026-27 college basketball season.
After landing a commitment from five-star prospect DeMarcus Henry, the Tar Heels opened up their season with a win on Monday night. Although it was sloppy at times, UNC got the win over Western Carolina and will look to go 2-0 when they host Wofford on Friday night.
But they also received some good news regarding a prospect they are pursuing. Five-star combo guard Jalen Davis is wrapping up visits and will take his final official visit to Gonzaga this weekend. He's already visited North Carolina, doing so back in early October.
However, he may not be done seeing the UNC campus. Eric Bossi reported on Wednesday that Davis is set to take one more
trip to North Carolina on an unofficial visit.
A note on Top-15 Jalen Davis. In addition to his official visit to Gonzaga set for this weekend, sources confrm to @247sports that the talented guard will take an additiional unofficial visit to North Carolina. https://t.co/z9Dl06rvwr https://t.co/gaO6d4TqBx pic.twitter.com/j8iD5nEtdW

That's huge news for North Carolina in the pursuit of Davis. The 2027 prospect hails from Washington and is a top 20 consensus recruit. With Henry already committed, UNC is off to a great start in this class and still have some big targets left out there, including Davis.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound combo guard is ranked No. 17 nationally, No. 4 combo guards, and the No. 1 player in the state of Washington per the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings. Is another top 20 recruit ready to commit to North Carolina? Stay tuned.
