Michael Malone is preparing for his first season as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, getting a look at his team for the first time on the court this week. While practice is beginning in Chapel Hill, the future of the program is also very important.
The 2027 class will be the first class under Malone where he's had a full recruiting timeline. He's been able to recruit from the start and has already established a big board of targets, sending out offers to players they are interested in.
But there appears to be a new target on their board and it's a big one — literally.
Per David Sisk of TarHeel247 (subscriber content), the Tar Heels are the latest team to show interest in 7-foot-5 center Cherif Millogo out of California. UNC was one of the programs
in to see Millogo and are now in full pursuit.

He's one of two 7-foot players on his high school team, but he even towers over the 7-foot-1 teammate Yann Kamagate, a player who UNC has also offered.
As for Millogo, he has offers from programs like Arizona, Kentucky, USC, BYU, Alabama, Georgia, and Nebraska among others. The 7-foot-4, 210-pound prospect is ranked No. 44 nationally, No. 6 center and the No. 2 player in the state of California per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
