Only five games into his NBA career, former UNC superstar Caleb Wilson is embracing every bit of the Chicago lifestyle.
The Bulls took Wilson fourth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, needing instant starpower in a big way. Wilson quickly showcased his pro readiness in NBA Summer League action, scoring a debut-record 35 points, then continued to thrive in the preseason.
On a recent episode of pro basketball player Jared Brownidge's "Link with JB podcast," Wilson told Chicago sports fans four things they should know about him.
“Number one, Green Bay sucks," Wilson said. "Number two, we’re going to get some good wins and eventually, you guys will think the Chicago Bulls are fire again, if you don’t think so already. Number three, I don’t like ketchup
on my hot dogs anymore. And number four, it’s a great day to be in Chicago. That’s pretty much it.”
That first sentence is a core of Windy City sports fandom. While Green Bay (Wisc.) doesn't have an NBA team, the Packers and Chicago Bears form the NFL's most historic rivalry.
Wilson looks every bit of a future NBA star in early returns, averaging 20.8 points and seven rebounds per game, both which rank Top-50 amongst his peers. Wilson reached double-digits in each contest, highlighted by a career-high 30 points during his home debut on October 24, while reaching the 20-point plateau Wednesday against the defending NBA Champions.
With a healthy Wilson, North Carolina competes for its seventh NCAA Championship. Wilson averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, consistently recording double-doubles and bullying opponents from anywhere, before suffering an injury at Miami (FL) and season-ender before the Duke rematch.
Wilson is living out his childhood dream of playing in the NBA. Chicago sports fans should love every bit of the Tar Heel phenom.
