The North Carolina Tar Heels have one of college football's toughest 2026 schedules on paper, but a 2-0 start is already helping them.
UNC staged a shocking, 15-10 upset of TCU in Week Zero, beating the Horned Frogs (1-1) in Ireland. North Carolina easily took care of business last weekend, stomping ETSU 35-3 in its home opener.
The Tar Heels will travel to Clemson for their ACC opener on Saturday, a game that should be closer than expected. As UNC prepares for its trip to Death Valley, it now also knows its 2027 conference opponents, a slate released on Wednesday.
Dates and times still need to be set, but North Carolina will host Duke, Florida State (first matchup since 2024), Virginia and Virginia Tech (first clash since 2022) next fall, while
traveling to Louisville, NC State, Stanford, Syracuse and Wake Forest.
The Tar Heels and their archrival Blue Devils have a 2026 battle set for October 17 in Durham. UNC then hosts Syracuse the following weekend, Louisville on November 14, travels to UVA a week later, then ends the year at NC State on Nov. 28.

North Carolina has its second bye week after facing the Tigers this weekend, then strolls into a tough October, starting with Notre Dame on the third. The Tar Heels travel to Pitt (Oct. 10) at Duke, then return home to welcome Syracuse (Oct. 24) and Miami (FL) (Halloween). UNC starts November at Uconn on the 7th, welcomes Louisville to Kenan Stadium on the 14th, travels to Charlottesville on the 21st, then closes its regular season out in Raleigh the 28th.
The Tar Heels will also play North Alabama, UCF and UConn in non-conference. Can North Carolina re-load again next offseason and compete atop a loaded ACC?
