The University of Georgia is known far and wide as a football powerhouse, but its men's basketball program has had its share of success as well. With 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including two bids in the last two years, the Bulldogs have been competitive enough on the hardwood.
Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, as well as current NBA players Nic Claxton, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards are all former Bulldogs. Here is a look at the two University of Georgia products the Los Angeles Lakers have drafted over the years.
Zippy Morocco -- guard
In his third and final year with the Bulldogs, Morocco averaged 23.6 points a game. The Lakers took him in the fifth round of the 1953 draft, but he never played in the NBA.
He also
played tailback for the Bulldogs on the gridiron while also serving as a punt returner. In two seasons, he collected 433 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, 392 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.
Walter Daniels -- guard
Daniels played at the University of Georgia for four years and put up 16.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists a game there. He was taken in the third round of the 1979 draft by the Lakers and never played in the NBA.
