Austin Reaves could be called upon to play a larger role for the Los Angeles Lakers this coming season after LeBron James and several other rotation players from last season's roster departed earlier this summer. He averaged 23.3 points and 5.5 assists a game last season, and he could increase his scoring average yet again this season.
He is armed with a new four-year, $185 million contract that he signed just weeks ago, and many feel like he will have to step up his offensive production in order to justify that large contract. If Reaves' rating in the video game NBA 2K27, which will be released on Sept. 4, is any indication, he could very well have a big season.
The game gave him an overall rating of 88, which was 26th overall and put him ahead
of notable players such as Orlando Magic star big man Paolo Banchero and three-time All-Star center Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat.

Reaves has become quite a story after going undrafted in 2021 out of the University of Oklahoma. The guard first emerged as a viable starter late in the 2022-23 season and helped the Lakers reach that year's Western Conference finals, and from there, he continued to up his production year by year.
Had it not been for a gastrocnemius strain that sidelined him for several weeks in the middle of last season, he might have earned his first All-Star game nod.
