Conor McGregor remains positive about bouncing back after surgery.
McGregor went under the knife to repair a torn meniscus and ACL in his right knee which he suffered in his TKO loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329. McGregor injured his knee from the first kick he threw, and struggled to remain on his feet before the fight was waved off just 69 seconds in.
McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) posted a video on his "X" to shout out numerous athletes who came back from ACL tears – including Dominick Cruz who captured the UFC bantamweight title after a 16-month layoff.
"What's up folks. The Mac is back, baby," McGregor said. "My knee is repaired, surgery was a success, and I'm on the road to recovery. That should tell you all you need to know about my mindset:
straight into surgery, knee repaired, and on the road. Let's go.
"I want to give a shout out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs: I don't know whether he returned after his second ACL, however, he's doing backflips, movement is still stellar. Other notables in other sports, NFL – Tom Brady done it. (Adrian) Peterson done it. These are my motivation here, especially the fighting boys. Unstoppable baby – my mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable."
Cruz spoke at length about McGregor's injury and was optimistic that "The Notorious" will make a full recovery. McGregor broke his left leg in July 2021, his pinky toe in 2024, and now tore his right knee after coming back from a five-year long layoff.
