Alex Pereira has had a little time to mull things over, and now he thinks he's got a plan in place.
Not long ago, the former middleweight and light heavyweight champion said he wanted to return around November with a heavyweight fight, then fight the winner of interim champion Ciryl Gane and champ Tom Aspinall.
But now, "Poatan" thinks his next move should be Gane (14-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) – who beat him at UFC Freedom 250 in June to win the interim title. That victory denied Pereira (13-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) the chance to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in three divisions.
Upon reflection, and not knowing when Aspinall (15-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) will be cleared from the multiple eye surgeries he needed after his no contest with Gane, Pereira
thinks he should get another shot at the belt at heavyweight. He cited the shots to the back of the head he took against Gane at the White House to help his case.
