Sedriques Dumas fought the law again – and the law won. Again.
On the main card of UFC Fight Night 289 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Miami-Dade Police Department officer Luis Hernandez won his promotional debut as a short-notice replacement against Dumas (10-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC), who was originally slated to face Mickey Gall. Hernandez (9-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made the most of his opportunity and found a way to end the fight by submission in just 57 seconds.
Hernandez came out of the gates and applied heavy forward pressure, but didn't rush his offense. A moment later, he found home for a huge overhand left that appeared to rock Dumas. This led Hernandez to take control in the clinch, and before Dumas knew it, he was trapped in a guillotine choke, and tapped
a few moments later.

After the official decision was read, Hernandez was presented with his BJJ black belt.
During his post-fight interview, Hernandez said he needed a bonus to buy his guys back home some doughnuts. He also asked everyone talking trash about Dumas, who has been arrested 14 times since 2014, with three convictions, to think about his family, and he hoped he would continue to turn his life around.
Speaking of turnarounds, Hernandez said he wanted to get right back into the octagon within the next three months, as he's "trying to make history" with an active schedule.
"I took this on two-day notice, and the people love me," Hernandez said. "I'm the future. You're looking at a star, baby!"

As he exited the octagon, the DJ leaned into Hernandez's law enforcement background by playing "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle.
