PARIS – With one fight remaining on his UFC contract, Michael Page plans on making his fight with Nursulton Ruziboev a memorable one.
Page (25-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) meets Ruziboev (37-9-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) in a middleweight bout on Saturday's UFC Fight Night 287 main card at Accor Arena (Paramount+).
Page was under quite a bit of scrutiny after his most recent performance against Sam Patterson where he outpointed his former training partner for a unanimous decision win. Now that Ruziboev marks the final fight on his UFC contract, is he feeling the pressure?
"I'm not trying to put any pressure on it because I'm happy with my career," Page told MMA Junkie. "I want to do more, but I'm happy with what I've achieved, where I've come, how well I've done, the name
I've created for myself. Demonstrating being a true martial artist in terms of I've done everything. I've done Bare Knuckle, I've done jiu-jitsu, MMA, kickboxing, and I'll probably continue to do more things even if I don't stay at the UFC, but I just feel like I have unfinished business which is why I want to stay, but it's not all up to me."
"MVP" has been racking up wins in the UFC, but is yet to deliver the highlight-reel knockout that fans have come to expect of him. That's why he's entering his fight against Ruziboev with a clear intent.
"Just the old MVP," Page said. "I want to gift a moment that I've gifted many times in Bellator, I want to gift that moment to the UFC. Even if this is my last fight, I want to gift to the UFC, a moment in history that everyone is going to remember, a clip that everyone is going to keep playing over and over again just because it was that spectacular that people can say, 'I was there at that fight,' or they'll remember exactly where they were when they were watching that fight. I want to gift that fight to the MMA fanbase around the world."
