UFC Fight Night 293 has a new main event.
Heavyweights Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker will collide in the Nov. 7 main event at Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The original main event was to be a welterweight matchup between Sean Brady and Gabriel Bonfim, but it was canceled due to injury.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. The news was first reported by Laerte Viana.
It's not the first time Cortes-Acosta (17-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) has stepped in on short notice for the promotion. In November 2025, he traveled from Arizona to Qatar on three days' notice and finished Shamil Gaziev in 88 seconds. This time, Cortes-Acosta aims
to snap a two-fight skid after back-to-back unanimous decision losses against Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes.
Walker (23-10 MMA, 9-7 UFC) is 2-1 in his most recent three outings and is coming off a terrifyingly brutal first-round knee knockout on Oct. 3 vs. Mick Parkin. The win was his UFC heavyweight debut and bounced him back from a split decision loss to Dominick Reyes.
