PHILADELPHIA – Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry got a final look at each other on the eve of their UFC 330 title clash during Friday's ceremonial weigh-in session.
Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) and Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) concluded the fight week build with one last staredown in advance of their welterweight championship showdown on Saturday at Xfinity Mobile Arena (Paramount+).
It will be a historic result one way or another. Either Makhachev wins and takes sole possession of the record for most consecutive UFC win at 17 and retains his No. 1 pound-for-pound status, or Machado Garry emerges with the belt as the second Irish-born titleholder in company history alongside Conor McGregor.
There's much at stake, and the evidence of
that was clear as champion and challenger stood toe-to-toe, exchanging words just one night prior to sharing the octagon.
