Henry Cejudo may be done in the UFC's octagon, but he still has a thirst for revenge on one of his former foes.
Cejudo wants to meet Song Yadong again, but this time on the mats in RAF. The pair first met in the main event of UFC Fight Night 252. That fight ended early due to an eye poke, and Song took a technical decision after the fight went to the scorecards in Round 3. Cejudo, a former two-division UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist wrestler, wants to see Song on the mats.
"I'd love to wrestle Song Yadong next," Cejudo told MMA Junkie. "I know he's got desire to wrestle in Real American Freestyle, and I would love to welcome him into Real American Freestyle. Let's put the belt on the line. Let's do it in Miami, why not? He's got a couple
of weeks. He came (away) unscathed; he did beat Umar Nurmagomedov in the fashion that he did. He has been working with elite wrestlers in Valentine, but man, I would love to put his ass out.
"When I'm in shape, and I'm ready, I don't think there's nobody in the world that could beat me. My biggest thing is that I've enjoyed life after accomplishing so much, that I've just been kind of, you know, teeter-tottering a little bit – but I think now it's just different, man. I'm making that commitment to continue to keep training every day, and taking these dudes out one by one by one."
Since his last fight in the UFC, which was a decision loss to Payton Talbott at UFC 323, Cejudo has been busy wrestling for RAF. He defeated Urijah Faber by tech fall at RAF 6, dropped a decision to Merab Dvalishvili at RAF Georgia, but got revenge in the rematch at RAF 12, quickly pinning Dvalishvili in the opening period.
Now that Cejudo is fully focused and training, he wants Song to step onto the mats so he can get revenge for the eye poke that he says has caused permanent damage.
"So, Song Yadong, I got a message for you – I got a message for you, coward: My eye is permanently damaged forever. You got two weeks to get your ass ready for Real American Freestyle in Miami. I'm making it public right now. Talk is cheap. You say you want to wrestle; you say you want to compete? I am willing to compete against you in Miami and then Boston the next damn week. Answer the call and sign the damn contract."
