Conor McGregor is planning one last ride.
After a five-year hiatus, McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) returned to action at UFC 329 to rematch Max Holloway, but the fight never really got going. "The Notorious" injured his right knee with his first action of the fight, an explosive jumping kick, which Holloway (28-9 MMA, 24-9 UFC) evaded. The fight lasted only 1:09, as McGregor was clearly unable to continue on his compromised leg.
The Irishman is now in the process of recovery, which will include surgery, putting him on the shelf for many months. UFC CEO Dana White recently stated he expects the former two-division champion to be out for a year.
McGregor has set a timeline for his return, targeting International Fight Week in 2027 for the final fight
of his storied career.
"What was to be a generational beating is now to be reset," McGregor wrote on Instagram. "IFW 2027 The Last Dance."
McGregor is currently on a three-fight skid, losing back-to-back fights against Dustin Poirier and, most recently, Holloway. His last win was a 40-second finish of Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on Jan. 18, 2020.
