Luke Rockhold and Joe Pyfer are set to compete on the mat.
Real American Freestyle has booked a catchweight wrestling match between Rockhold and Pyfer for their RAF 13 event on Sept. 19 at the Watsco Center in Miami, Fla. The promotion announced the news of the booking on Sunday.
Apart from their notable MMA careers, neither Rockhold nor Pyfer brings extensive wrestling experience into their match.
Pyfer wrestled in high school and is currently a top contender in the UFC's middleweight division. The 29-year-old is on a four-fight winning streak, with his last victory being a TKO win over Israel Adesanya in March. Pyfer joined the UFC ranks through Dana White's Contender Series in 2022 and has gone 7-1 with five Performance of the Night bonuses.
Rockhold, 41, returns to the RAF mats, looking to get his first win. The former UFC middleweight champion debuted in January, losing by technical fall to Colby Covington. Since leaving the UFC in 2022, Rockhold has competed in several different combat sports, including bareknuckle boxing, boxing, Karate Combat, jiu-jitsu and now wrestling.
