The UFC was back in China on Saturday, and a home country fan favorite pulled off an all-time stunner in the main event.
UFC Fight Night 286 at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center didn’t feature a lot of wins by the locals’ favorite fighters, but Song Yadong (24-9-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) shocked Umar Nurmagomedov (20-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in the bantamweight main event with a brutal second-round knockout that had Nurmagomedov’s brother Usman over the top of the cage to check on his unconscious brother, a position the family’s fighting members never have seen before from one of their own.
UFC Shanghai was another crazy event in terms of stoppages with another double-digit number: 10 in 13 fights. It was the fourth event to feature double-digit finishes in the past
eight shows.
In fact, starting with the UFC’s bootlickapalooza at the White House in June, there have been 94 stoppages in 135 fights for a 70 percent clip. The average rate of finishes in the UFC, historically, hovers in the 45-50 percent range, so it’s truly been a hot summer for the promotion.
But not all finishes are created equal. Check out the finishes from UFC Shanghai in the video above. Then vote for which one was your favorite in our polls below.
