A new promotion will dip its toes in the combat sports waters Saturday with Duel Arena 1 in Florida.
The event is backed by an online sportsbook, so effectively we're back to the BodogFight days in that sense. It was supposed to feature former UFC welterweight Mike Perry against d-baggery lightning rod Dillon Danis until Danis pulled out a day ago.
In hyping Danis' replacement against Perry, Brandon Jenkins, the promotion's official social media account threw in a little hate speech Danis' way. Then it went out and hired his mother to be a ring card girl for the event and posted a titillating image of her to troll Danis, who was labeled a "Junkie fgt" by the official promotion social media accounts Friday.
Duel Arena 1 takes place at Kia Center
in Orlando, because of course it does. The hybrid event features MMA, boxing and kickboxing, all inside a ring. It was supposed to be a pay-per-view. Now it's being given away for free on YouTube. A special guest has been touted by the promotion, as well: some controversial outwardly racist waste of space pud who makes things or some such thing. Time will tell if the potential "let's be anti-woke and outwardly racist in our promotion of this thing, because it probably won't last" gimmick works.
