There's no one else Joe Rogan wants to see fight for the lightweight title next than Arman Tsarukyan after his brutal act of violence at UFC 331.
Rogan was on the call Saturday at Cyrpto.com Arena in Los Angeles as Tsarukyan (24-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) pushed his winning streak to six fights with an absolutely savage standing elbow knockout
of Mauricio Ruffy (14-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the final seconds of the opening round.The matchup was touted as a potential title eliminator coming in, and Rogan thinks Tsarukyan did everything he needed to do in order to make himself undeniable for champion Justin Gaethje (28-5 MMA, 11-5 UFC) next.
"Get that man a title fight," Rogan said on the UFC 331 broadcast. "There's nothing else to say. That is, right there, the No.
1 contender in the world. No ifs, ands or buts about it. That guy just made a statement."
UFC CEO Dana White was noncommittal about Tsarukyan's place at 155 pounds, noting that Gaethje hasn't given the promotion a firm answer about whether he will defend or retire after claiming gold from Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 in June.
White said state that Tsarukyan "could not be in a better position," though, and Rogan would like to see him finally get the opportunity after his entire career was set back after pulling out of a UFC 311 title fight with then-champ Islam Makhachev in January 2025.
The spotlight was all on Tsarukyan at UFC 331 to get over the hump, and Rogan was in awe of the manner in which he put Tsarukyan away.
"He knocked Ruffy into the shadow realm with two elbows," Rogan said. "Just spectacular. I can't remember the last time someone standing elbow KO'd someone."
