Herb Dean's fault?
King Green (36-18-1 MMA, 17-3-1 UFC) was dropped three times by Esteban Ribovics (17-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) on Saturday's UFC 332 main card before referee Dean stepped in to wave the lightweight fight off near the end of the opening round.
Green immediately protested the stoppage, and took to his Instagram stories to release a statement on his loss at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
"Great fight, sh*t happens," Green said (h/t Full Send MMA). "I told myself, regardless or not, I'm not going to be mad at myself, but I'm a little mad. I told Herb, This is going to get sticky. Let me go out on my shield.' I was still fine. I wanted to still keep fighting. I felt like we were getting somewhere.
"But, it was a great fight. Shout out to everybody
that supported, everybody that was cheering me on. I love you guys. I'm fine. I'm great. I feel like I want to fight next f*cking week. You know what I mean? And so, thank you so much for the support. I love you guys, and I will be back very soon."
UFC CEO Dana White was asked to weigh in on the stoppage.
"Herb's having a rough f*cking year," White said during Saturday's UFC 332 post-fight press conference. "Listen, you know, Bobby was laying there going, you know – but he got dropped like three times in a row. So, I've seen worse stoppages."
