The second time was the charm for Alik Lorenz.
After a failed bid in 2025, Lorenz (8-2) smoked grappling standout Mahamed Aly (5-2) with a knockout 2:33 into Round 1. The bout took place Tuesday on Dana White's Contender Series 88 at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Lorenz, an MMA Lab product, landed a big right hook that dropped Aly. He then scrambled past Aly's legs and hammerfisted his way to victory.

Lorenz, 29, likely earns a UFC contract and redeems himself after a 30-second knockout loss in 2025. Between DWCS appearances, Lorenz won at LFA with a 24-second knockout of Gabriel Thimoteo.
Aly, 32, a former IBJJF world
champion, comes up short on DWCS for the second straight year. He was knocked out by Iwo Baraniewski in 20 seconds in 2025 and had won a bout for Shogun Fights between DWCS appearances.
