Could another member of the Pereira bloodline be headed to the UFC?
Aline Pereira has one good performance between her and a UFC contract, but the test is stiff (and 15 years younger) in Smilla Sundell. The two bantamweights will collide in the final episode of the current season of Dana White's Contender Series, taking place Oct. 13 at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous, as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Brazilian reporter Leo Guimaraes first reported the bout Tuesday.
Aline (3-2) is 36 and the younger sister of former UFC champion Alex Pereira. She gets her first UFC look after a win at MVP MMA 1 over Jade Masson-Wong.
Despite her relative inexperience in pro MMA, Aline is an established kickboxer and Karate Combat champion. She has not lost in five-straight pro combat sports bouts.
Sundell (2-0) is 21 years old, and viewed by many as a prodigy. Born in Sweden, Sundell initially embarked on a pro muay Thai journey, making her ONE Championship debut at age 17. She went 5-0 in pro muay Thai before a pivot to MMA in January. She won her first two pro MMA bouts by TKO under the Tuff-N-Uff banner.
