Dana White thinks the UFC 332 main event outcome may have boiled down to poor decision making.
In the UFC 332 headliner Saturday, Natalia Silva defeated Wang Cong by unanimous decision. However, White thinks Cong (10-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) could've fought better and will likely be regretting some of her strategy when she views the tape.
"I think that when Wang goes back and watches the film, she's going to hate herself," White told reporters at a post-fight news conference at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. "I think if she stepped on the gas a little bit earlier, it would've been a completely different fight. It was close, and ... yeah."
Silva (21-5-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) is now the women's flyweight champion. She has now won 15 fights in a row. Her first challenger
is unknown at this time. But rather than have her wait around for injured Valentina Shevchenko who vacated the title, White would prefer Silva takes on the challengers who are ready.
"I think she should be active, yeah," White said.
Cong came up short in her first UFC title challenge and had a four-fight winning streak snapped. With her name crossed off the checklist, Silva could find herself against the likes of former champion Alexa Grasso, who defeated Manon Fiorot in September, or Erin Blanchfield, should she get through Jasmine Jasudavicius in October.
