After two failed bookings in the past, Virna Jandiroba and Tatiana Suarez will try to finally meet in the octagon at UFC Fight Night 293.
Jandiroba (23-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Suarez (12-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) have been scheduled for a key strawweight contender matchup on the Nov. 7 card at Meta APEX in Las Vegas (Paramount+)
Two people with knowledge of the booking verified the news to MMA Junkie following an initial report from Ag. Fight. The people requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Suarez, No. 3 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie strawweight rankings, pulled out of the most recent date with No. 4-ranked Jandiroba when injury halted their UFC 310 bout in December 2024. In August 2023, Jandiroba suffered
a knee injury that took her out of a scheduled fight at UFC on ESPN 50.
The long-awaited encounter will be critical in the careers of both as they pursue another title opportunity. Suarez, 35, enters on a two-fight winning streak against Loopy Godinez and Amanda Lemos, while Jandiroba, 38, rebounded from her vacant title loss to Mackenzie Dern in October with a decision win over Tabatha Ricci in April.
The latest UFC Fight Night 293 lineup includes:
- Gabriel Bonfim vs. Sean Brady
- Davey Grant vs. Elijah Smith
- Gabriella Fernandes vs. Karine Silva
- Jonny Parsons vs. Jose Henrique
- Seokhyeon Ko vs. Wellington Turman
- Jose Delano vs. Murtazali Magomedov
- Virna Jandiroba vs. Tatiana Suarez
- Alvin Hines vs. Gabriel Lorenco
