LAS VEGAS – Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn squared up for the first time on fight week Thursday following the final press conference for their WBC welterweight title showdown.
After exchanging words in front of fans and media at T-Mobile Arena, which hosts Saturday's card (Paramount+), Garcia (25-2) and Benn (25-1) got in front of each other for a staredown, with plenty of security on-hand. They kept things professional, despite a few words exchanged.
The pair were supposed to face off on Tuesday, but Garcia skipped the obligation and told reporters at Wednesday's media day that he felt it was unnecessary to attend.
Garcia will only have to get in front of Benn on more time before they share the ring for the 12-round title fight, and that will come
on Friday at ceremonial weigh-ins.
