LAS VEGAS – Matheus Camilo wants to keep the momentum going at UFC Fight Night 290.
After pulling off a big upset in enemy territory over the summer, Camilo (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) looking to make a big statement in his return on Saturday at Meta Apex in Las Vegas (Paramount+), where he takes on Jai Herbert (14-6-1 MMA, 4-5-1 UFC) in the lightweight co-main event.
Camilo is confident he'll finish the British fighter in impressive fashion, just like he did with Nazim Sadykhov in his previous outing.
"Like I said, the Nazim fight was like a little preview about me, and against this fight I'm going to fight Jai Herbert," Camilo said at the UFC Fight Night 290 media day. "He's very experienced. He's been in the UFC for a long time. This is one more chance
I have to show who I am. I'm going to put a big show on Saturday."
Standing at 6-foot-1, Herbert towers over most fighters at 155 pounds. Camilo is aware of the challenge a disadvantage in height and reach means brings, but he's more than ready to face the difference.
"He's a good striker," Camilo said. "He's long. He has an advantage on that, but I worked a lot for it. I come to finish him."
