Din Thomas is sold on Natalia Silva after UFC 332.
Silva (21-5-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) defeated Wang Cong (10-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) by unanimous decision to capture the vacant UFC flyweight title in Saturday's main event at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Silva was initially meant to challenge Valentina Shevchenko (26-4-1 MMA, 15-3-1 UFC) for the title but wound up facing Cong after Shevchenko relinquished her belt. Shevchenko warned Silva of what's to come, but Thomas likes the Brazilian's chances.
"I don't know, man, the way Natalia Silva looked tonight, she looked outstanding," Thomas said on UFC on Paramount+. "She fought the best fight of her career tonight when she needed it most. I think even if it was Valentina, she gives Valentina a lot of problems.
"Remember Valentina, she's a little bit older. Natalia Silva's on a comeup. Age is a real thing. I think if Valentina comes back, she's going to have her hands full with Natalia Silva, and that post-fight speech (was) inspiring. I don't care what you think about her. The post-fight speech was as inspiring as the performance."
Silva is now on a 15-fight winning streak, which includes wins over former champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso, and Rose Namajunas.
