What is the story about?

Mike Malott is headlining in Canada once again.

The UFC welterweight contender is set to fight veteran Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Fight Night 291, which takes place Oct. 17 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Paramount+). The UFC announced the news on Tuesday.

This is the second UFC main event on home soil for Malott (14-2-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC). His first came in his last outing back in April when he retired ex-UFC title challenger Gilbert Burns in Winnipeg. Malott, arguably the biggest Canadian name on today's UFC roster, is currently on an impressive four-fight winning streak.

Buckley (21-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC) is looking to get back in the win column. Over the last year, he's suffered back-to-back defeats to contender Sean Brady

and former champion Kamaru Usman. In both fights, he was outgrappled and controlled to lose unanimous decisions. Prior to these losses, Buckley was on a six-fight winning streak and getting in title contention.
