LOS ANGELES – The hard part is over for UFC 331 headliners Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja.
In advance of Saturday's flyweight title rematch at Crypto.com Arena (Paramount+), reigning champ Van (16-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) and former divisional kingpin Pantoja (30-6 MMA, 14-4 UFC) did their jobs on the scale at official weigh-ins.
Pantoja was part of the first wave of fighters to step on the scale, registering 125 pounds as he looks to regain gold and become a two-time champion. Van waited until about 30 minutes into the weigh-in window to go, and he checked in at 125 even in advance of his second title defense.
Now the stage is set for Van and Pantoja to run it back. The first fight at UFC 323 ended in just 26 seconds when Pantoja suffered an arm injury
that led to a 26-second TKO win for Van.
The tension has been building on both sides, and now it's time for them to get in the octagon and settle their differences.
