MIAMI – Luke Rockhold isn't keen on signing with an MMA promotion, but two fighters would interest him in a return to the sport.
Rockhold (16-6) hasn't competed in MMA since losing a blood-and-guts war to Paulo Costa at UFC 278 in August 2022, although he has remained active in Karate Combat, boxing, Bare Knuckle Boxing, and Real American Freestyle. The former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion was asked if he has any interest in joining forces with his old promoter, Scott Coker, who just launched Ki MMA.
"Nah," Rockhold told MMA Junkie. "I think a ring is cool. I think what he's doing, Scott has always been able to put together big stuff, so I think the ring is a very cool aspect of viewership. It's something sexy that the cage doesn't
present, and that white ring is going to be very visible. You're going to be able to see a lot of knees and kicks, and sh*t flies very clearly and cleanly, and it's fun to watch. So, I hope the best for him."
Rockhold meets UFC middleweight contender Joe Pyfer in a light heavyweight wrestling match Friday at RAF 13. When asked if MMA is in his future, Rockhold said he'd entertain two fights only.
"There's only going to be a few fights I'd entertain in life – Mike Perry in MMA will be fun. I would love to whoop his little ass," Rockhold said. "Dillon Danis, I'd love to whoop his ass, too. That's probably the only two people I'd fight in MMA. I'd f*cking sh*t on their face (laughs). I love Mike, but watch your back, Mike. Watch your back."
