Paddy Pimblett believes Movsar Evloev wanted out of his UFC 333 loss.
UFC featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski (29-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) finished Evloev (20-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) by Round 2 TKO in Saturday's main event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Evloev was tagged by a big left hook and right cross, which sent him to the canvas. Pimblett was surprised the undefeated fighter didn't show more resistance while Volkanovski was landing his ground-and-pound.
"Some big shots there, is it over? It's over," Pimblett said on his YouTube channel in real time. "Boom. Volk, man, gets the finish. Evloev quit there for me, just rolled over. When there's five seconds left, lad, you've just got to keep moving so the fight stays on. I mean, you can't start just covering
up."
Evloev was all class after defeat. He offered no excuses and praised 38-year-old Volkanovski for aging like fine wine. Prior to his title loss, Evloev was 10-0 in the UFC, with wins over Diego Lopes, Arnold Allen, Lerone Murphy, and Aljamain Sterling.
