Green Bay Packers rookie offensive lineman Jager Burton is missing practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury he suffered during the opening practice of training camp on Wednesday.
Coach Matt LaFleur says Burton felt the injury during an individual period at Wednesday's practice and was pulled from practice as a precautionary measure. Burton is scheduled for testing to determine the severity of the injury on Thursday.
"He felt something in individual. So we're just being cautious with him," LaFleur said before practice on Thursday. "We'll have a little better idea when he goes through the testing today. He will not be out there today."
Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Burton left the practice field with a trainer and returned without a helmet,
signaling his day was done.
Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky, so Burton's issue is one to monitor as training camp continues on.
Burton was a fifth-round pick of the Packers in the 2026 draft. He is being cross-trained at center and guard to start his rookie season and is in line for a top backup role in Year 1. An extended absence to start training camp could hurt his ability to be an early contributor in 2026.
In other injury news, guard Aaron Banks is sitting out Thursday's practice while managing a knee injury, and receiver Brenden Rice is not practicing with a new hamstring injury, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com.
