The Green Bay Packers made a roster swap along the offensive line on Monday, placing guard/center Jacob Monk on injured reserve and signing guard Mekhi Becton from the practice squad.
Monk replaced an injured Sean Rhyan at center in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions but promptly injured his quad, forcing the Packers to play third-string option John Williams at center for 58 snaps. Monk missed multiple games with a quad injury during the last month.
Monk will now miss games against the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams before he's eligible to return from injured reserve.
With Monk out, the Packers brought up Becton, a 2020 first-round pick who has started 59 career games in the NFL.
The veteran guard and tackle has been on Green Bay's practice squad since Sept. 28. It's possible Becton could get in the competition to start at right guard, although Travis Glover and Kevin Zeitler are both healthy.
The Packers did not immediately place Rhyan (high ankle sprain) on injured reserve, suggesting the team remains hopeful he can return before Week 12.
