The Green Bay Packers placed second-year defensive lineman Warren Brinson on injured reserve on Saturday. The team made no corresponding roster move, so the Packers will go into Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a 52-player roster.
Brinson, a 2025 sixth-round pick, suffered a groin injury after slipping during Wednesday's practice. Coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers are expecting Brinson to miss a significant amount of time but did not say if the injury would end his season.
By going on injured reserve, Brinson will miss at least the next four games: Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, Chicago Bears in Week 6, Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 and Detroit Lions in Week 8. He would be eligible to return come Week 9.
Brinson missed the first
three games of the 2026 season after suffering a calf injury during pre-game warmups on Aug. 21.
As a rookie in 2025, Brinson produced 13 tackles, three quarterback hits and 0.5 sacks over 11 games. He played 273 defensive snaps.
The Packers have Devonte Wyatt, Javon Hargrave, Karl Brooks, rookie Chris McClellan, Jonathan Ford and Anthony Campbell on the roster at defensive line.
Brinson is the third Packers player from the initial 53-man roster to land on injured reserve, joining right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele (knee, out for season) and receiver Jayden Reed (neck, out for season). Receiver Savion Williams and edge rusher Collin Oliver are eligible to come off injured reserve after Week 4, so one of the roster spots could be left open until Williams or Oliver is activated.
