The Green Bay Packers lost 35-14 to the Atlanta Falcons in the 2026 home opener on Thursday night at Lambeau Field. Coach Matt LaFleur admitted his team got a "butt-whooping" and needs to "find solutions" quick but said the season is still young, and he believes his team has the right people to get it turned around.
The Packers are 1-2 after three games and a late comeback away from an 0-3 start. LaFleur's team blew a win in the fourth quarter of Week 1 and then got blown out at home to a team that came into Week 3 without a win.
Here's what LaFleur had to say following the 35-14 loss on "Thursday Night Football" from Lambeau Field:
-- Opening statement: "Well, that was a humbling night. I don't think anybody is pleased about this. We have a couple
extra days and everyone has to take a long hard look at themselves. We have to find solutions. And just come back ready to work. It was certainly a tough night."
-- On the offensive line: "We have to continue to work with these guys, and figure out what we do well. Right now, I don't know what we're doing well offensively."
-- On the lack of a run game: "Any time you drop back 50-some times in a game and you have nine rushes, it's probably not going to bode well for you."
-- On not having Josh Jacobs: "I think we all saw a dynamic running back on the other side, and I think Josh is a dynamic running back. But it's the situation, the circumstance, it is what it is right now. We have to put them in a better position and those guys have to go do it."
-- On acquiring help: "I'm not going to get into that without taking a peep at the tape and doing all that. I'm going to work with whoever is here and we'll all work together to fix this thing. Three games in, certainly we're nowhere near where we need to be, but that's a lot of ball in front of us."
-- On responding: "They had 500 yards of offense, we had, whatever it was. It was a butt-whooping. I won't put it on any one thing. We have to respond better. That was at least a three-quarter butt-whooping right there."
-- On the roughing the passer call: "I'm not going to answer that, I'm not going to get fined."
-- On the Jager Burton false start on fourth down: "It was no snap, no play. It was a young player who hasn't been in there. It was a good lesson. We'll all learn from that. I don't anticipate it happening again."
-- On ability of the offensive line: "I don't want to put all the blame on the offensive line. There's plenty of blame to go around. We have to catch the ball better. I'm sure there's some throws J-Love would like to have back. Just like there are some play calls I'd love to have back...we have a 4th-and-1, and it's gloved. There's enough blame to go around to everybody."
-- On the message: "You have three days to decompress and we have to get back to work. Knowing the guys in that locker room, we know it's going to get loud, you have to ignore the noise, and just focus on what we can do better...roll up your sleeves and get to work."
-- On rebounding: "We have the right kind of guys, who aren't afraid of the work, aren't afraid of the challenge, aren't afraid of the adversity."
-- On Jordan Love: "He's a great leader. He has the respect of everyone in the locker room. It's not like...he's not afraid to say something to somebody, but he does it in his own way, which I appreciate, and I think the guys do as well."
-- On playing Love late in the game: "Just try to play your way out of it."
-- On Love getting sped up: "Absolutely. That's tough on a quarterback if you're constantly getting hit and throwing off your back foot, and you don't trust everything that's going on around you. We have to look at some things schematically to alleviate the pressure...you need to have a run game to complement the pass game, at least to keep people on their heels so they don't tee off on the quarterback."
